Current BE Guidance - Tier 2/3The Government has mandated the following restrictions for the playing of indoor sport in Tiers 2 and 3:
The League Committee meet on Sunday 4th October and decided to cancel all competitions this season. The decision was taken because of the uncertainty of court availability, lockdown restrictions over the months ahead and BE guidance. Should circumstances permit, it was agreed that the League Tournaments in March 2021 will go ahead.
As the primary aim of the League dinner dance is to present trophies, the Committee also decided to cancel the dance in June 2021. If the League Tournaments go ahead, trophies will be presented on the day of the tournaments.

The Government have agreed to move to phase 3 of Badminton Englands "return to play" roadmap. The main change is that competitive badminton is now allowed and coaching can move to a ration of 1 coach to 15 players.
The guidance allows for a return to match play between 2 teams of 6 players, but there are fairly strict conditions to adhere to, see following link: https://www.badmintonengland.co.uk/return-to-play/ The Committee will be reviewing the guidance and venue availability to establish if, when and how we can re-introduce competitive League Badminton.
Badminton England
The Government have agreed to a phased return to playing badminton, with the opening of sports halls from 25th July. The restrictions are very prescriptive see links below. These are BE guidelines and sports halls will inevitably have their own property specific requirements.

Garforth Academy will not be available for hire for the time being due to heating upgrade/modifications. Hopefully we should be able to return in September, by which time the restrictions may have been further relaxed. In the meantime take care and keep safe.
Badminton England
The Government did not include Badminton in the relaxation announced recently as expected. BE have therefore issued the following update:
"Last week, we published our latest Return to Play roadmap detailing how clubs, players and coaches alike could prepare to get back safely on court indoors. We had worked extremely closely with Government on our guidelines and had made significant adjustments to how badminton would be played, including limiting play to singles only unless all players were from the same household, and adhering to a maximum of 5 players in a socially distanced coached session.
We were therefore incredibly disappointed to learn from the Prime Minister’s announcement on Tuesday 23rd June that indoor leisure facilities will not be reopening on 4th July as previously set out in the Government’s roadmap.
We are now doing all we can to work with government officials and their advisors, leisure facility operators, and other sporting bodies to understand exactly why this decision was made and to get firm timescales on when we can return and how new restrictions will affect badminton. As soon as we have this information, we will update our guidance and share with you as we work to get back on court as soon and as safely as possible."

League Competition - 2019/20
The League has decided to terminate this year competition forthwith. Final league positions ,for the basis on promotion / relegation, will be decided upon the results to date plus the previous results for unplayed matches. This means that our A team will finish second and be eligible for promotion.
The Academy has cancelled all booking until further Notice. Our badminton will therefore be suspended until further notice.
Coronavirus Update
In view of Government advice, regarding limiting social contact, the League Committee has taken the unprecedented step of suspending all League fixtures and the League Tournament, scheduled for this weekend.
While we have decided to suspend all league fixtures, we feel that it is inevitable that no further League fixtures will be played this season. We do not expect the Tournament to be played either.
This being the case, we will consider its’ implications and consult in due course. Obviously Tournament fees already paid will be refunded. Should Government advice change we will, of course, review the position.
We have not taken this decision lightly but feel it is our social responsibility to keep our members and, the wider population, safe.
Club Badges - are still available from Rod, cost £5
- Organised sport amongst adults (18 and over) is not permitted – the rule of six no longer applies in these areas. Therefore the following types of activity cannot take place:

- Group coaching (more than one person)
- Adults – household only playing on a court
